YAY!
Taking a quick break to post this link:
Adventures of Batman in D*sneyland!

OMG. See, this is why I want to be an actor. I love creating a magical world in which people can believe.

Help a kitty.

Okay, so I stumbled across this, and since I can't help financially, I'm posting the link in case anyone who reads this can. [info]sweetdragon (you probably know her from Made-of-Fail podcasts) needs help to pay for her really sick cat. Here's the link to the beginning of her story, but as of right now, she still needs mucho help.

WUT.

So, I've been musing, and especially with the [info]fangirl_tour starting up, I thought I would post a link of fanfic recs of stories that have changed my life (or at least amused the hell out of me) over the years. Multiple fandoms, multiple pairings, multiple genres.

Click here for the random fangirlyness! )

Now this is most certainly not my definitive list of recs. In fact, I think sometime soon I'll do a post of my favorite fandoms and pairings and list more fics there. It's just a list of fics where, when I look back on my life, I can point and say that they hugely impacted me. Yes, this is what I do at 4:30 in the morning instead of sleep.

In other news, Victor/Victoria rehearsals are trucking along. We open tomorrow/today, and the set changes take up a good 20 minutes. Joy. I'll probably post some pictures and videos soon.

Oh Disney. You never cease to amuse me.

I just watched an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody where Zac Efron played a merit scholar.

I know, I know. At least it was entertaining watching him kiss Ashley Tisdale.

OMG why must I have rehearsal tonight? Plus bonus character talk.

Here be spoilers for House up till 5x23. )

Um...that's it? I didn't realize I would write that. On the last House note, here's a link to a fic that still blows my mind. House/Cuddy, long, don't read if you're in a good mood.

Your Hand in Mine by Hihoplastic

Aaaand on a Disney note, I CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED THE JONAS PREMIERE THIS SATURDAY AND ALL THE NEW SHOWS ON SUNDAY. Theatre world, you rule my life. Okay, so I'm not a Jonas fan (except for my inexplicable attraction to Nick--WHY AM I SUCH A CRADLEROBBER? I swear, I was never interested in guys younger than me until Mr. President came into my life.), but the show sort of seemed promising. And I hate to write it, but Demi Lovato is growing on me. I finally watched Camp Rock, and it wasn't half bad. PLEASE TO NOT BE THROWING RAW CABBAGE AT ME.

Random post is random.

Soooo, I've finally come to terms with the fact that Disney rules my life. Last Sunday I auditioned for the Character Performer role in their College Program. I don't think I'll get it, but I really, really hope I do. Le sigh.

One more announcement. I have finally met the love of my life. Here is a picture of him.
His name is Jonathan, and he's a contestant on Make Me a Supermodel. Besides being the modern equivalent of a Greek GOD, he also has a British accent.

I'll wait for you to stop swooning.

Anyway, completely ignoring the fact that he has a wife and son, the one reason I don't have a chance is because he likes his women "flat as a pancake." Now, unless those pancakes have lumps the size of Fs, the love my life has rejected me. You can stop laughing now Universe. I don't think your laughter in the face of my pain is very amusing.

ETA: Yep, just found out I didn't get it. Le sigh. One more crushed dream to add to the pile. </pity>

Because I feel the need to share the wonders I've discovered. Most have been around for a while so forgive me if you already know, but some surely do not know these wonders!

Girls Next Door comic strip. Chronicling the adventures of Sarah from Labyrinth and Christine from POTO as they deal with their respective stalkers and other tenants in their apartment complex. Cameos from Good Omens, Sweeney Todd, POTC, Les Miz, aaaaand...others I'm sure.

Simply Potterific comic strip. Parodies of the HP series. Need I write more?

GoblinQueeen's da account. I absolutely love her art.

lissie_pissie's youtube page. If you love House/Cuddy, go. Go RIGHT NOW. Every single one of her videos is amazing. Every. Single. One. You can also visit her media lj.

The Secret Life of Dolls. Brought to you by the wonderful [info]cleolinda.

Aaaaaand...that's it.

Post-Oscars squeeage

God is coming...
I know I am made of fail, but I feel that I should make at least a leetle post about the Oscars. Not much to report, except for the gigantic upset in the best actor category. I thought for sure Rourke would get it, and while I'm happy for Sean Penn and Milk (which was a good movie btw), my personal vote was for Langella. Seriously guys, he's amazing in the movie. Yay for Kate Winslet and her speech. You go girl. Um...oh! Penelope Cruz, I'm happy you've won yet not sure why. And Heath Ledger. You are still missed.

All in all, the show itself was very well put together. The montage things they did for the actors were very nice and appreciative (sorry Alan Arkin but you slightly fail by saying Seymour Phillip Hoffman but we love you anywayz). AND MUSICAL MONTAGE. OMG guys the musical totally isn't back, and the sequence was so very, very out of place, but I loved it anyway. Hugh Jackman, you have my heart. Please let us do a musical together before you get too old.

Last but not least...YAY SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. I haven't espoused the glories of this movie yet, but by now I hope I don't have to do so. The rest of the nominees are good movies, but Slumdog wipes them all out. It's simply incredible.

Wow. I can't believe the Oscar nominations I'm reading. It's...wow. A quick list since I have to leave soon:

1. Revolutionary Road was totally snubbed. Except for Kate Winslet and a nom for costumes and art direction, it is not nominated for anything. Anything. Okay, granted I haven't seen it yet, but Kate Winslet loves it a lot, and that says everything I need to know. I feel so sad for Sam Mendes and Leonardo DiCaprio right now. This is perhaps the biggest shock. Guh.
2. Oh, Kate Winslet was not nominated as best supporting actress. JHSDJFBD! How can you not nominate the golden globe winner? What is this madness?
3. Robert Downey Jr. was nominated as best supporting actor in...wait for it...Tropic Thunder. Now the questions you have to ask yourself are, "What were these people smoking" and "How do I stay away from it?" Because you cannot nominate RDJ over James Franco for any reason. ANY. I don't care if they did it for Pineapple Express or Milk but seriously. SERIOUSLY.

If Kate Winslet doesn't win best actress and Slumdog Millionaire best movie, I will lock myself in my room and cry and write bad teen-angst poetry. Why oh why such a let down Oscars?

YAY!
What better way to start the new year than with the golden globes?

...

Okay, was it just me, or did the whole show seem really sloppy? Presenters had to shush the audience, the camera cuts were stupid and pointless (except for that lol-worthy moment during Mickey Rourke's speech--whoo hoo for live tv!), the teleprompter was having having fits or something. It was just badly put together, and it really detracted from the importance of the awards.

But onto the winners! Kate Winslet and Slumdog Millionaire were certainly the biggest winners of the night, and boy, each heartily deserved their wins. I'll see The Reader next weekend, but Kate Winslet is so fabulous that I have no problem saying she deserves her awards. And what can I say about Slumdog? If you haven't seen it, I pray the movie is released near you soon. It is a stunning film and truly the best of the year. The vibrancy it has on screen makes the other movies pale in comparison. Every aspect of this film--acting, directing, writing, editing--came together in a way that only happens once in a while with movies. It was a honor to watch it, and I hope it wins the top prize at the Oscars.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night (man, I sound like some article don't I?) was Mickey Rourke's win for best actor. I haven't seen the movie, so I can't say yay or nay, but I certainly thought it was a total underdog win. Who knows what will happen at the Oscars?

As far as the television categories go, I'm extremely happy Anna Paquin won. She is an actress that flies under the radar a lot, but that makes her work no less wonderful. On a personal note, I was sad that House did not win either major categories. I think it's one of the best shows on television, and Hugh Laurie is the best actor, but I know nothing so...whatever, whatever. I'll keep watching, don't you worry David Shore. Don't you worry.

Lastly, Heath Ledger. I scared my kitty when he won, and then I caught her and hugged her because I was crying. We would have loved to have seen your future work, but what you left us was brilliant, and we applaud you. You are forever missed.

Golden Globe news/squeeage

God is coming...
Yay for Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep receiving TWO noms each for different works! Especially Kate Winslet because I absolutely adore her (LOVED that Vanity Fair article about her). I can't wait to see some of the nominees for best picture (and even the ones that weren't nominated *coughDOUBTcough*). The race to the Oscars is ON bitches! One of my favorite news, however, is probably James Franco receiving a nom for Pineapple Express as best actor. SRSLY. RD Jr. and Tom Cruise also got noms for Tropic Thunder (best supporting), but that's more a surprising 'huh. okay.' reaction. James Franco is a surprising 'hdfkdfkj OMG U SRS??!!!11!' reaction. Oh, I luff him. I want to have his fantasy babies. Heath Ledger also was nominated for Dark Knight, which makes me somberly squee, but he's up against Phillip Seymour Hoffman in Doubt, and that just does not bode well my friends. On a bitchy note, I see Keira Knightley was not nominated for The Duchess (although Ray Fiennes was), and a little part of my soul is reborn.

With the television front, House is a good contender for the top prize, and Hugh Laurie has a good chance for best actor (although I hear Jonathan Rhys Meyers is pretty good in The Tudors which I must see ASAP). Anna Paquin is nominated for True Blood (which I must also see ASAP--darn you HBO for creating really good series!), and I say THANK GOD. Girl needs a big award double-stat, please and thank you. The only snubs for me are Robert Sean Leonard and Lisa Edelstein. Barring my obvious obsession with House, it takes a lot to share the screen with Hugh Laurie and not come up short, and truthfully, we probably wouldn't love House as much as we do without the two of them by his side. They are the Ron and Hermione to his Harry Potter. Give some love, award people.

Thus endeth my post.

No, the apocalypse is not coming. But I've been kinda sorta flexing my writing muscles these past few weeks, mainly with House (but I also finished two chapters on La Fraise, so if there are any around who still read it, go to FF.net now!). I may not post all of them, but why write if not to share with the world?

House goodies and Johnny Depp has sold his soul to Disney

  • Dec. 8th, 2008 at 5:01 PM
Chase. Funny.
Where have I been these past few days, says you? Ah, good question, says I. There is one word that can describe my life at this moment, and it is House. I'm pretty sure Hugh Laurie owns my soul. WHY SO GOOD HOUSE? Anyway, in celebration of returning to a normal life (minus my soul), I bring three goodies from the pit of my obsession:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55TZvoQobR0
This is a fanvid that I absolutely ADORE. I love the music, the cutting, everything. I haven't watched all of Season 4 (FOR SHAME), but the scenes in this video of Wilson and Amber kill me. Plus the Huddy. Gotta love the Huddy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w-ohubLZk4
I can't explain why I find this so funny. 'Cause it's actually kinda creepy. Whatevs. This is a fake trailer, and yes, the same person did both fanvids. Can I help it if she's good?

http://www.sendspace.com/file/pp2lfx
To round out, I present you with Hugh Laurie playing Silent Night on the piano.

In other news, yes, Johnny Depp has sold his soul to Disney. As I read it, not only is he doing PotC 4 but Bruckheimer's Lone Ranger and Burton's Alice in Wonderland (both funded by Disney). I guess we won't be seeing any more Fear and Loathing, eh? Also, apparently there have been hush-hush readings of a Finding Neverland musical (not with Depp because man can't sing more than seven notes, tops). While this would normally be distressing news, Christian Borle (Emmett from Legally Blonde) is currently Barrie, and he makes me squee. So the news is slightly less heinous.

THE END!

FTW!

In honor of the new Twilight movie, I bring you this link of sparkling awesomeness.

Beware if you are a TRU TWILIGHTER. But if you, like me, enjoy

FURSPLODE!
Edward as a creepy, psychotic stalker WHO SNEAKS IN AND WATCHES BELLA WHILE SHE SLEEPS
Growing Up Cullen
The Twilight Saga aka Twinkies

then click away for the lulz!

In related news, if I am ever changed against my will by creepy psycho stalkers into a vampire, I think I might be Alice. Or at least, have her power. Not only did I know I would like the music on the soundtrack for the movie (which could be the power of suggestion, meaning I'm Jasper?), I knew I would get the poster of Bella. However, now I cannot drool over RPattz as was my plan. CURSE MY ALL-KNOWINGNESS.

No, just...no. This ranks up there with ALW writing a sequel to Phantom. You cannot write a movie musical sequel to Hairspray. You just can't. Even John Travolta doesn't like the idea! Take the hint people!

Oh and economy? You suck. Four Broadway musicals are closing: Legally Blonde, Spamalot, Hairspray, and Spring Awakening. <*insert dramatic scream here*>

Or something like that. Anyway, in recent news, I have left SU and joined the reputable people at Coastal Carolina.

...

Good points: Tuition cost $25, I have my own apartment, my own car

Bad points: Everything else

Well, I exaggerate. Slightly. Anyway, I figure I'll never be truly happy anywhere, and I really just want a degree. I'll miss being two hours away from Misshie, but c'est la vie. I'm only about eight hours away now, I could totally make the trip. If, you know, I manage to keep up with my internet life and actually talk to her once in awhile. Or anyone else for that matter. I admit it--I really suck at keeping up with old friends. But I still love them all. Well, except for one person, but she shall remain nameless for the sake of the innocent.

So yes, I don't like Obama...

  • Jun. 25th, 2008 at 11:10 PM
Political
BUT, you cannot tell me you don't chuckle a little at this:

In the primary, aides to Mrs. Clinton referred to their rival as B.H.O. — initials of Barack Hussein Obama, including his middle name, which has been a politically sensitive issue — while Mr. Obama’s team simply referred to him as B.O. The B.H.O. shorthand is frowned upon inside Mr. Obama’s campaign headquarters, a warning for any Clinton staff members coming aboard.

I guess it's the lesser of two evils, but seriously? I'd take B.H.O. over B.O. any day.
